Norwegian third tier side Lyn almost pulled off a remarkable feat as they looked to secure the title and automatic promotion on the final day of the season but they narrowly missed out despite winning 10-1.
Lyn had to win by ten goals in order to secure automatic promotion to the second division. They succeeded in scoring ten times against Fram Larvik but fell agonisingly short of their objective on account of the goal that they conceded.
As a result, Lyn will now have to enter the play-offs as they look to achieve successive promotions, having only gone up to the second tier last year.
Egersund ended up winning the second division title by just one goal, with Lyn finishing in second place.
In their final game of the season Egersund won 5-0 against Vard.
