Liverpool pictured working hard in new gym as injured stars battle to recover

Liverpool’s players are making the most of their new facilities at their new AXA Training Centre.

The squad has been pictured training and working hard in the gym ahead of Sunday’s visit from top of the table Leicester.

Brendan Rodgers’ Premier League leaders travel to Merseyside looking to take advantage of the Reds’ injury crisis.

A host of top stars are set to miss the game this weekend, including Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Thiago Alcantara.

The latter was spotted at the AXA Training Centre, however, speaking with Andy Robertson, who is also a doubt for Sunday with a tight hamstring, having been away with Scotland during the international break.

Mohamed Salah was another casualty of the time away, having contracted Covid-19.

But while the Egyptian isolates, his team-mates are busy working on their fitness and being put through their paces by Jurgen Klopp and his staff.

Unsurprisingly, fit-as-a-fiddle James Milner was front and centre doing step climbs.

Sadio Mane, who played for Senegal over the break, was seen with a basketball.

Fabinho, meanwhile, was stretching and his availability against Leicester will be crucial.

Klopp is expected to turn to the Brazilian as an option at centre-half if he passes a fitness test following a minor muscle injury.

Elsewhere, midfielder Naby Keita worked on his core strength alongside Milner, and centre-half Joel Matip was seen focusing on his upper body too.

In a major positive for Liverpool, youngster Rhys Williams was also spotted in the gym despite being sent home from England Under-21 duty with a hip problem.

With Salah out, Diogo Jota is expected to play against the Foxes, and he looked fit and ready in the gym, while back-up striker Divock Origi was also seen.
