Liverpool making final signing before deadline hinges on Premier League rivals
Football Digest: Liverpool need additions before deadline
Liverpool will have to rely on Premier League rivals Fulham to do them a favour if they are to get a deal for Bayern Munich midfielder Ryan Gravenberch over the line before Friday night’s transfer deadline. The Reds are on the hunt for another new midfielder as they look to compete for Premier League silverware this season.
Liverpool have already snapped up midfielders Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai and Wataru Endo this summer, with Jordan Henderson and Fabinho quitting Anfield to move to Saudi Arabia. But Reds manager Jurgen Klopp is keen to land Gravenberch, who moved to the Allianz Arena from Ajax last summer.
According to German outlet SPORT1, Bayen will allow the 21-year-old to move to England if they can agree a deal with Fulham to sign talented midfielder Joao Palhinha.
Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel is desperate for a new No 6 after missing out on Declan Rice and Aurelien Tchouameni earlier this summer and has pinpointed Palhinha as his preferred candidate to fill the role. And Munich chiefs will try to fulfil their manager’s wish before the Bundesliga transfer window slams shut at 5pm BST on Friday.

Palhinha joined Fulham from Sporting Lisbon last summer for £20million and racked up three goals in 35 top-flight appearances as the Cottagers finished 10th in the Premier League. The 28-year-old missed the start of this season through injury but was handed his first start of the campaign against Arsenal at the weekend, scoring a late equaliser as his side moved up to 12th.
Liverpool themselves are also admirers of Palhinha, according to the Daily Mail. But the player’s age goes against the Reds’ profile for big investments. And Klopp will therefore continue to pursue Gravenberch.

Liverpool face competition from Manchester United to secure Gravenberch’s signature, with the agents of the Netherlands under-21 international speaking to both Premier League clubs. But neither club have put forward a formal offer for the star, who featured 33 times for Bayern last season and made his first appearance of the current campaign against Augsburg on Sunday.
Bayern have also been keeping tabs on United star Scott McTominay and Chelsea ace Conor Gallagher as Tuchel looks to strengthen his team. But it appears the ex-Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain manager will now narrow his focus on Palhinha.
Meanwhile, Fulham are also looking to conduct their own transfer business before Friday’s 11pm Premier League transfer deadline and are exploring a number of options, with Everton winger Alex Iwobi just one player the west Londoners are considering signing in the next two days.
