Liverpool ace Gravenberch gets exciting Klopp tip-off after Toulouse masterclass
Klopp praises Nunez after Liverpool defeat Toulouse
Liverpool head coach Jurgen Klopp lavished praised on his midfielder Ryan Gravenberch after the £34million summer signing produced a masterful performance in the 5-1 thrashing of Toulouse in the Europa League. The Reds showed no mercy to their French opponents after an excellent first-half display, with Gravenberch the outstanding performer in the engine room showing Klopp has another promising talent in his ranks.
The Reds boss made eight changes at Anfield but his side proved they have strength in depth, with Diogo Jota, Wataru Endo and Darwin Nunez putting them 3-1 up at the break after Thijs Dallinga briefly brought the visitors level at 1-1.
The excellent Gravenberch tucked home a fourth seconds after Nunez had missed a golden chance and Mohamed Salah notched a late fifth as Klopp’s men secured a comfortable win without the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Alisson Becker and Dominik Szoboszlai.
But it was Gravenberch who stole the headlines with a midfield masterclass. The 21-year-old was imperious in every department and capped his fine display with a goal, with Klopp suggesting there is more to come from the former Bayern starlet.

“I’m so happy for him that he’s really enjoying his football again,” Klopp said of Gravenberch, speaking to TNT Sports after the game.
“You can see it in so many moments, his first touch is incredible, his acceleration with the ball, how strong he is in tight spaces… he’s not even halfway there where he can be.
“But it’s really promising, I’m really happy for him. The good thing is he has so much room for improvement, that’s really good news because he’s really young and much more to come.”

Gravenberch is quickly becoming a fans’ favourite after leaving Bayern behind, having barely featured in the first team under Julian Nagelsmann and Thomas Tuchel.
His performance was nearly matched by Endo, the Japanese midfielder who starred after being handed a rare opportunity to impress from the start, and the Liverpool boss heaped praise on the 30-year-old for his all-action display in the heart of the midfield.
“In the air tonight, he was really, really strong and not only that, he scored an incredible goal from the set piece,” he added. “I’m really happy that he could control a really good game, how he passed well, broke the lines and half-spaces as well. With him, I’m really happy as well and the right players scored.”
Liverpool can prepare for their home clash with Nottingham Forest on Sunday with a clean bill of health, having kept Salah, Van Dijk and Alexander-Arnold relatively fresh after a perfect evening on Merseyside.
