Kylian Mbappe has alerted a number of top European clubs by informing Paris St-Germain chiefs of his desire to leave at the end of the season.
The Times are reporting that Mbappe, whose current PSG deal expires in 2022, has set his sights on a move away from the Parc des Princes in order to further his career.
The France superstar is said to be eyeing up a move to either La Liga or the Premier League – and Manchester United are one of the sides on his radar.
But considering he joined PSG in a deal worth £165million two years ago, how would United be able to afford Mbappe?
Cash in on a valuable asset
If they identify Mbappe as a serious transfer target next summer, United would first need to offload one of their most valuable stars to balance the books.
Selling either Marcus Rashford or Anthony Martial could bring in just under £100million, while Real Madrid may be prepared to break the bank for Paul Pogba.
Move on fringe players
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could then raise further funds by cashing in on some of the fringe players in his first-team squad.
Whether that’s in the current window, in January or next summer, there are plenty of outcasted stars United could cash in on.
The likes of Jesse Lingard, Diogo Dalot and Andreas Pereira have fallen out of favour under Solskjaer, and moving all three players on could generate at least £50million.

Forget about Sancho
Should United complete the above steps and go all out for Mbappe next summer, they will undoubtedly have to scrap a potential £100million deal for Jadon Sancho.
Reports suggest the club are still keen to sign Borussia Dortmund’s star man, but lining up a mega-bid for Mbappe in 2021 would make that extremely difficult.
