Kim Min-jae agent speaks out on Man Utd ‘agreement’ as Erik ten Hag awaits deal

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag reviews Wolves win

Napoli defender Kim Min-jae’s representatives have spoken out on his potential summer transfer to Manchester United. The Red Devils are reportedly ready to trigger Kim’s release clause and bolster Erik ten Hag’s defensive ranks ahead of the second season of his project.

According to Italian outlet Il Mattino, it is only a matter of details before the 26-year-old centre-back completes a switch to Old Trafford.

Intermediaries involved in talks are said to have convinced Kim to leave Napoli after helping the club lift their first Scudetto in 33 years.

Reports claim Kim has a £41million release clause, which can be triggered in the first 15 days of July.

And United have been linked with making a colossal contract offer as Ten Hag eyes more quality in the already-competitive core of his back line.

However, Kim’s camp has urged calm over the situation, stating that a transfer isn’t close to completion, despite contrary reports.

They told Star News: “The transfer to Manchester United is not true. Currently, Kim Min-jae is focusing on finishing the season.

“In the case of the English Premier League, the qualification to the Champions League or the final standings have not been decided. There is no need to move.”

Kim has military training in June, so any deal isn’t expected to be completed before then.

And his representatives insisted that he is in no hurry to decide his future after a successful season in Naples.

“He has to be enlisted in June, so he doesn’t have to rush,” they added.

Kim only joined Napoli last summer from Fenerbahce in a deal worth around £16m, quickly becoming a staple of Luciano Spalletti’s defence.

His performances have caught the attention of Europe’s heavyweights, though United’s early interest may come as a surprise.

Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez have formed a formidable partnership this season.

The duo have played a significant role in United conceding just eight Premier League goals at home and David de Gea winning his second Golden Glove for the most clean sheets.

But Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof are linked with exits over concerns about game time. Both are no longer considered first-choice.

And Kim could arrive to help Varane manage his minutes, eventually acting as the injury-prone 30-year-old’s successor in M16.
