Kieran Trippier in furious altercation with Newcastle fan after Bournemouth loss
Kieran Trippier was filmed in an angry exchange with the Newcastle supporters after his side’s 2-0 defeat to Bournemouth on Saturday evening. The Magpies have endured a difficult week in back-to-back defeats with Eddie Howe forced to make several changes to his starting line-up against Bournemouth.
Newcastle still would have been expected to get a result against a Bournemouth side who had only won once in their opening 11 league games. But Newcastle struggled to trouble Bournemouth’s goal and the hosts walked away with an impressive 2-0 victory.
For the travelling fans, they faced a long trip back home and some aired their frustration to the players as they came over to thank them for their support. Trippier took exception to one supporter asking whether the team were “giving everything”.
The England international reacted furiously, repeatedly yelling back “how many injuries we got?”. Joelinton and a steward ended up pulling Trippier away to avoid the situation escalating any further.
Newcastle boss Howe downplayed the incident after the game, choosing to concentrate on the positives from the away support. “I did see that and I just think there is high emotion at the end of games,” Howe told Sky Sports.
“We really appreciate our away support. Everyone is valued and we’re just disappointed with the result.” Trippier stood by his argument though, calling on the Newcastle fans to stick with the players.

“The fans are emotional, they have travelled a long way,” he said. “I had a chat with one of them, saying we are giving everything and there’s no need to panic.
“We got beat and we apologise for that result but the lads are giving everything.”
