Man Utd: Solskjaer says squad can deal with rotation
Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has warned Manchester United that he is still yet to be convinced Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have what it takes to win the Premier League title this season. United sit second in the table ahead of tonight’s clash against high-flying Aston Villa at Old Trafford. Victory would take the Red Devils to level on points with leaders Liverpool with the same amount of games played.
It is some turnaround for Solskjaer, who was facing question marks over his future following the club’s exit from the Champions League last month.
United’s home form has picked up to add to their unbeaten run in the league away from Old Trafford.
Carragher believes the Red Devils can benefit from a closer title race this season, where he expects the required points tally to win the league to be much lower than recent campaigns.
But despite the obvious improvements, the former defender still sees weaknesses at United which could disrupt their ambitions, especially with goalkeeper David de Gea.

“United could be one of the major beneficiaries of this unique season because the title could be won with little more than 80 points,” Carragher wrote in The Telegraph.
“United are among those who could hit that mark, especially if they remedy their poor results at Old Trafford.
“In Bruno Fernandes they have one of the Premier League’s outstanding players.
“A word of warning, though. I am yet to be convinced United are a well-balanced, consistent team. They still have problems.

“You cannot keep relying on the attackers to get a team out of trouble, and their goalkeeper issue needs to be resolved. David De Gea is still making too many mistakes.
“If Dean Henderson does not get a run in the side to prove United will not need to sign a new keeper at the end of the season, what was the point of bringing him back to Old Trafford?”
Meanwhile, Carragher is insistent Liverpool must sign a central defender this month and says not doing so will only help their rivals’ title chances.
“The injury to Virgil Van Dijk alone will cost Liverpool between nine and 12 points over the course of this season,” Carragher added.
“And although Fabinho has proved a fantastic deputy at the back, Joel Matip’s ongoing problems means, to me at least, that it is inconceivable that Liverpool will not sign another centre-half at the earliest opportunity.
“I cannot understand the logic of not doing so. The club needed one anyway.
“The way Liverpool have dealt with the loss of key players so far shows they will still take some stopping, but it will not be as one-sided as last year and failing to sign another defender will only lift the hopes of everyone else.”
