Ian Wright tells Arsenal they can capture their own Garnacho
Football Digest: Arsenal defeat Man Utd 3-1
Arsenal hero Ian Wright has told the Gunners they can capture their own Alejandro Garnacho in the form of Evan Ferguson. The Brighton striker has excelled in the Premier League this season and bagged a hat-trick on Saturday as the Seagulls defeated Newcastle 3-1. But Arsenal could be held to ransom over a transfer fee as Brighton have already netted prodigious sums of cash from other player sales in recent years and are under no pressure to cash in on the 18-year-old.
“When you look at him, the way he plays, his appreciation for the game, his movement and finishing both feet, good in the air and good pace,” Wright told Premier League Productions.
“He has all the attributes at 18. Very mature in the way he plays. All he has to do is keep doing what he is doing and they are going to start talking about him in million terms because that striker is not allowed. You can’t find that guy to come around, who is 18, in the Premier League and at the perfect club to continue to grow.
“They aren’t going to be able to hold onto that guy if he carries on doing what he is doing. He is too good. So intelligent for 18. It’s really, really composed finishing.

“He is fearless at 18. Can you imagine being in the Premier League at 18? You’re not under the pressure you would be under like Garnacho would be under at Manchester United – you watch the way he plays, all the top teams, the top six teams. He can play in any of those teams. We know Brighton, at some stage, they will sell him.”
Ferguson made his Premier League debut against Burnley as a 17-year-old in February 2022. The teenager, who has already won six caps for Ireland, bagged six goals in 19 top-flight appearances last season and has found the back of the net four times in four matches this time around.

Ferguson was handed a new deal by Brighton in April and is contracted to his current employers until 2028. But he is said to be attracting interest from a whole host of top clubs, including Manchester City.
Brighton sold Moises Caicedo to Chelsea for a fee that could rise to £115million in the summer after already bagging £25m from the Blues in exchange for out-of-favour goalkeeper Robert Sanchez. And the Sussex side also cashed in on World Cup winner Alexis Mac Allister, who was sold to Liverpool for £35m.
With the likes of Marc Cucurella, Yves Bissouma, Leandro Trossard, Neal Maupay, Ben White and Dan Burn also netting the club huge sums of cash in recent years, Brighton are likely to drive a hard bargain when they do eventually decide to listen to offers for Ferguson. And Arsenal may just be willing to stump up the cash if the player decides to move to the Emirates Stadium.
