‘I was Carlos Tevez’s team-mate – he’d bring 12-man entourage to team dinners’
Former Manchester City midfielder Stephen Ireland revealed that Carlos Tevez would always bring a huge entourage with him whether he went.
Ireland joined City as a teenager before breaking into the first team as Mark Hughes and then Roberto Mancini began splashing the cash following the Abu Dhabi-backed takeover.
And one of those big name arrivals was Tevez, who broke the Manchester divide and joined the Blues in 2009 from Manchester United.
But Ireland revealed that Tevez would never arrive anywhere on his own, even at team events. Also admitting he wasn’t that same player who met the eye on a matchday around the training ground.

Ireland, speaking exclusively to Ladbrokes Fanzone, said: “I had a season at Manchester City with Carlos Tevez – he was a nice guy, I'm just trying to think back to any experiences I had with him on a personal level…
“I just remember everywhere he went. he had, like, 12 people with him. Whether they were friends, family, or whatever, he would always rock up with four or five cars full of people.

“Even team events, or team dinners, or team nights out, he's turning up with 12 people who just stood around him.
“He didn't really speak much; you'd do well to get four words out of him from Monday to Sunday.
“He'd never speak or engage with anybody. He'd just come in with a hoody on, hood up, basketball shorts on, and he'd be exactly the same every single day – you barely got a word out of him.
“He'd train at a really low level; I'm talking, like, 2 per cent. And then game day would come around and he'd play like an absolute mad man.
“Then all of these people, fans and pundits, would be like "look at Tevez, look at how hard he works". And, yeah, on a matchday, he would. But you'd get nothing else out of him for the rest of the week.”
Tevez won the Premier League and FA Cup with City before joining Juventus in 2013.
The 76-time Argentina international is currently the manager of Primera Division side Independiente in his homeland.
