Sancho was dropped from the United squad that lost at Arsenal earlier this month with ten Hag revealing in his post-match press conference his performance levels in training were not up to scratch.

In a now-deleted social media post, Sancho hit back at his manager and insisted the claims are ‘untrue’ and that he is being made a ‘scapegoat’.

The former Borussia Dortmund winger has refused to apologise for his comments and has been ordered to train alone at Carrington until the matter is resolved.

It has cast major doubt over his future at Old Trafford with reports suggesting he could be sold when the transfer window reopens in January.

The ongoing issue has been compounded by the absence of Antony, who is on a mutually agreed period of leave following domestic assault allegations.

According to talkSPORT, ten Hag’s tough stance on Sancho’s future has not gone down well in the dressing room with a group of first-team players opposed to the action taken against their teammate.

It comes amid reports of dressing room unrest with United in the midst of a woeful run of form having lost four of their last five games, conceding 14 goals in that run.

Manchester Evening News report reports a section of the United dressing room is ‘growing weary’ with ten Hag and feel the Dutchman has his ‘favourites’ in the squad who he will not single out for criticism. Others feel there are ‘routinely rounded on’ by the manager.

United are in action against Burnley on Saturday. In his pre-match press conference, ten Hag confirmed Sancho will remain sidelined, throwing further doubt on his long-term future at the club.

Asked if Sancho still has a future at United, ten Hag said: ‘It depends on him. For the rest, we are preparing for Burnley, and that has all our focus.

‘He will not be in the squad.’
