Harry Kane ‘curse is real’ as Bayern suffer huge upset with 96th minute goal
Fans reckon the Harry Kane "curse" is real after Bayern Munich were dumped out of the DFB Pokal by third-tier Saarbrucken.
Boss Thomas Tuchel named a strong starting XI for the away trip on Wednesday (November 1), making just five changes from the 8-0 Bundesliga drubbing of Darmstadt at the weekend in which Kane scored a halfway-line goal as part of a hat-trick.
The England captain was one of those rested for the second-round tie, but it didn't taken them long to find the back of the net without him. Thomas Muller opened the scoring in the 16th minute.

But Patrick Sontheimer equalised in first-half stoppage time for the hosts, who kept the score level after the restart – and then found the most dramatic of winners, with Marcel Gaus finishing past Manuel Neuer in the 96th minute.
Kane, who never won a trophy with Tottenham and made his Bayern debut in their Super Cup defeat to RB Leipzig back in August, didn't make it on the pitch. But fans still blamed him for the loss.

One argued: "The Harry Kane curse is 100% real, I am sure at this point." Another echoed: "Bayern lost 2-1 against a random pub team. The Kane curse might be real."
"Harry Kane has a trophyless curse, it’s gonna be mad if they win nothing this season," commented a third, while a fourth wrote: "Bayern have now bottled two/four possible trophies this season, Kane is doing incredible but is his presence ACTUALLY a curse?"
A fifth replied: "To those who doesn’t understand… The Harry Kane curse doesn’t stop you from scoring lots of goals or winning matches, it only stops you from winning trophies." And a sixth joked: "Yo Spurs are winning the league aren’t they, Kane took the curse with him."
The major upset brought about a scathing rant from Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund, who told SPORT: “This is just unacceptable, I don't understand how you can play such a bad first half. No courage, no speed, aggressiveness — you can't compete with any opponent like that. The disappointment is huge."
