The winter transfer window is still over a month away but the rumour mill is already churning. Expectations heading into January are that Premier League clubs will be active in the market, especially Manchester United.
The Red Devils are reportedly looking to strengthen in four positions, particularly defensive midfielder with Erik ten Hag said to be underwhelmed by Sofyan Amrabat’s contributions so far. Meanwhile, Arsenal are looking to overhaul their midfield with Thomas Partey expected to be replaced in the New Year.
The Ghanaian midfielder is linked with a move to Saudi Arabia while the Gunners are hoping to bring in Aston Villa’s Douglas Luiz in his place. Liverpool may not be getting their top midfield target though. Bayern Munich are favourites to sign highly-rated Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz ahead of Liverpool, who had been weighing up an offer.

Greenwood ‘targeted for huge transfer’
Mason Greenwood is reportedly attracting interest from other Spanish clubs after impressing on loan at Getafe. According to the Sun, Real Sociedad and Valencia are both “monitoring” the Manchester United loanee’s situation as they weigh up a move for the 22-year-old at the end of the season.

Van de Beek wants out
Donny Van de Beek has revealed his intention to leave Manchester United in January unless he starts playing games soon.
He told Diario AS: “The time comes when a decision has to be made.
“I have to start playing games very soon, if it’s not possible at United, then I will go to another club.
“I think this is a healthy ambition. I make a good living at United, but money has never been my motivation.”
Man Utd ready to pounce for Muller
Manchester United are reportedly “ready to pounce” for Bayern Munich legend Thomas Muller in January. The German forward has lost his place in Thomas Tuchel’s side to Jamal Musiala and has been linked with a move away from his boyhood club. According to German newspaper BILD, the Red Devils are the favourites to snap him up.
Liverpool Wirtz snub
According to Sky Sports Germany, Bayern Munich are favourites to sign Bayer Leverkusen attacking midfielder Florian Wirtz ahead of Liverpool.
The 20-year-old is leaning towards a move to Bayern providing they are able to come to an agreement with Leverkusen. Witz is said to be at the top of Bayern’s shortlist for 2024 or 2025.
Bayern wants to try to sign him if there’s a chance but it also depends on Thomas Muller and Jamal Musiala’s next steps.
Arsenal midfield overhaul
Arsenal are in desperate need of a midfield re-shuffle and that appears to be their number one priority heading into January. Injury-troubled Thomas Partey is expected to leave in the New Year with reports linking him with a move to Saudi Arabia while the Gunners are hoping to bring in Aston Villa’s Douglas Luiz in his place.
The Villans aren’t keen on the idea of selling their star midfielder halfway through the season but may be persuaded if they receive an offer they simply can’t refuse. Villa value Luiz at upwards of £80million.
