Gary Neville warned Peter Schmeichel about something he saw in the eyes of Roy Keane on a Manchester United night-out.
Sir Alex Ferguson let his players enjoy themselves in town after they had won the Premier League in 1998/99, despite having an FA Cup and Champions League final to come.
The stars headed into town but it was Keane who showed up late – which ended up in a Ferguson rant the next morning.
In his autobiography, One, Schmeichel said: "Credit to the manager. He always recognised the importance of celebrating achievements.

"Even when you're going for a Treble, winning the league is very special and after an improvised get-together that evening we were given Monday off to go out in Manchester and celebrate properly. Albeit under strict instructions: behave yourselves."
Schmeichel and his pals then hit the town despite having a media session the following morning – with Keane showing up late.
He added: "Roy did not appear to have got the memo when he turned up at the pub where we gathered in Deansgate, the last to arrive and very drunk.

"As soon as he stepped through the door, Gary Neville said to me, Oh God, look at the eyes, this is trouble! In the next pub, Roy got into an altercation with a bloke and two girls.
"It was a stitch-up by a tabloid newspaper, with photographers waiting outside. We phoned Ned Kelly, our chief of security, who arrived quickly and calmed everything down. "
Schmeichel wasn't hanging around after the incident and headed home – with Ferguson acting quickly the next morning.

He said: "The manager got us in the dressing room and was absolutely furious with us. With us! First for letting something happen, second for calling Ned instead of him."
Schmeichel added the media day turned into a frenzy regarding questions over Keane's actions, but the manager didn't dwell on it.
United went on to beat Newcastle in the FA Cup final at Wembley – before the famous additional time win over Bayern Munich in the Champions League showpiece at the Nou Camp in Barcelona.
