Gary Lineker was sent weekly letter containing toilet paper with stains
Gary Lineker has revealed he was sent weekly letters containing toilet paper with poo stains when he first hung up his boots.
Lineker joked on his new podcast, The Rest is Football, that he doesn't believe the incident has anything to do with when he infamously let rip on the pitch. Speaking to co-host Micah Richards, he said: "This is a bit gross.
"But I used to get sack fulls of mail after my career, when I'd first started in TV. And I used to get one letter, every week, and I'd open it. And it would be toiler paper… with what you might think!"

Richards burst out laughing as Lineker continued to tell the tale: "And I don't think it was anything to do with my Italia 90 accident… But every single week, it was so gross!
"And, in the end, I could work it out from the post mark, it was from Bath – someone in Bath obviously didn't take enough baths. I knew which one it was, and I threw it away!

"You can talk s*** on Twitter, or X, whatever you want to call it… but you can't send it!"
Lineker has had quite the few weeks with poo, and he was recently the only guest on a cancelled podcast called "Turdcast". Comedian Joe Lycett had launched the new Turdcast podcast, which involves celebrities literally “talking s***”.
However, the show went down the pan after just one episode. As it turns out, Lycett launched the Turdcast as a publicity stunt with the aim of raising awareness on sewage being dumped into the UK's waters and the fact that British water companies paid out £1.4 billion in dividends last year alone.
