Gary Lineker quizzes Micah Richards on Roy Keane Arsenal incident
The verdict on Arsenal 3 Manchester United 1
Gary Lineker has quizzed Micah Richards after the former footballer was caught up in an incident during Sunday’s clash between Arsenal and Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium. Roy Keane was allegedly headbutted as he and Sky Sports colleague Richards made their way to the pitch at the end of the match, with blood reportedly left on the floor due to the clash.
Richards and Keane were in north London to give their expert analysis on the blockbuster Premier League clash for Sky Sports. But the pair were involved in a confrontation with a supporter in the Highbury Bar, with one eye-witness telling Express Sport: “The fan seemingly tried to head-butt Roy Keane. I then saw a mark between his eyebrows. Micah Richards stepped in and pushed the fan back against the door.
“Keane was asking nearby staff to call the police. Afterwards, we noticed a small amount of blood on the floor on the route where the fan was led out. Seems like Micah Richards was acting as Roy Keane’s bodyguard.”
Richards had no intentions of keeping a low profile on Monday as he teamed up with Lineker and Alan Shearer to record The Rest is Football podcast. And Lineker touched upon the scenes that occurred at the Emirates Stadium.

“Oh my word. Gary, I’m not allowed to talk about it,” Richards replied. “But when I’m allowed to talk about it, The Rest is Football will be the first to hear about it.” Shearer chimed in by exclaiming: “I think the common opinion is, don’t f**k with big Meeks. Flex the guns, Micah.”
But Lineker said it was no joking matter: “There was an incident at Arsenal yesterday where Roy Keane was allegedly headbutted by someone and a certain Micah Richards stepped in,” he explained. “We’ll get the full story at some point. It’s something we shouldn’t trivialise either, really, because that’s a serious thing if fans start attacking people. We’ll wait until the police investigation is done before we cover that story even more.”
