Four Liverpool cult heroes you forgot were still playing outside of the Prem
Jurgen Klopp astonished by four incredible Liverpool goals
Liverpool fans could have plenty to cheer about this year as the Red tussle with Manchester City and Arsenal for the Premier League title. And there are a handful of cult heroes who have moved on and may also be cheering the team on from afar.
Luis Suarez
Suarez needs no introduction and his three years at Anfield will live long in the memory. Liverpool came so close to winning the Premier League with Suarez as their No 9 but he departed with just one medal – the 2012 League Cup.
The Uruguayan won a host of personal accolades during his final year on Merseyside, in which he scored 31 goals in 33 matches.
That earned him a move to Barcelona and his link up with Lionel Messi and Neymar made them the dominant force in Spain, winning four consecutive La Liga titles. The 36-year-old is still plying his trade for Brazilian outfit Gremio but injuries are creeping in and his career may soon be brought to a close.
Martin Skrtel
The Slovakian centre-back left Anfield in 2016, where he went on to make 79 appearances in the Turkish league.
Skrtel continued his professional career with Slovakian top-division side Spartak Trnava before leaving in 2022.
The 38-year-old has since returned to his home country to fulfill his promise of finishing his career at his boyhood amateur club FK Hajskala Raztocno, who play in a local league in Prievidza.

Joe Allen
Allen drew comparisons to Xavi and Andrea Pirlo during his four years with Liverpool. It took a couple of years for the midfielder to find his feet after arriving from Swansea in 2012.
But fans, particularly on social media, loved hyping up their Welsh wizard. Allen has returned to his home nation and features for Championship side Swansea.
Speaking on the comparisons, Allen previously said: “It’s a dangerous one (the Pirlo comparisons) because I had ‘the Welsh Xavi’ tag for a while and that didn’t really do me too many favours.
“That’s the way you have to take it (as a joke). I have got a sense of humour. There have been loads of things that are really funny. I’m hoping I have a big influence on everyone. I’ve seen a few more beards than normal. It’s the long hair next. I can’t say I have many of the lads copying me but there you go.
“I have to say there’s been a few things sent my way that’s had me crying with laughter. The biblical references of recent times have been quite funny.”
