A former Liverpool winger is ‘set to be named as the new manager of Bordeaux’ just 81 days after accepting his current job in Slovenia.
The Spanish international joined the Reds in 2008, scoring five goals and nine assists in 56 appearances.
However, his time was cut short in 2010 after he was suspended by then manager Rafa Benitez for criticising him.
The suspected managerial appointment comes for Bordeaux as they sit 13th in Ligue 2 after suffering four defeats in their first ten matches of the season.
Now, fans of the French team will be hoping Albert Riera – who also played for Olympiacos, Galatasaray, Watford and Udinese – can turn their club’s fortunes around.
