Footballer pulls off one of best-ever assists that ‘Berbatov would be proud of’

A Latvian international has gone viral after producing what some are calling 'the best assist of all time'.

Alvis Jaunzems, 24, plays for Polish top-flight side Stal Mielec, who came back from behind to defeat Pogon Szczecin 3-2 in their Ekstraklasa clash. While it was a hat-trick from Ilya Shkurin that drove the team to victory, it was Jaunzems' assist for one of the striker's goal that stole the limelight.

The 24-year-old – who has 34 caps for Latvia – stunningly controlled a cross from Stal Mielec full-back Krystian Getinger by flicking it behind himself in the path of Shkurin who calmly finished it past the goalkeeper.

The Belarusian striker could hardly believe the gift of a pass he received from his team-mate as they eventually clinched the unlikely victory against Jens Gustafsso's side at the 15,500-capacity Stadion Miejski.

The outrageously impressive piece of skill from Jaunzems was posted to the Ekstraklasa's official TikTok page, and has since received almost 10million views on the social media platform, at this time of writing. Those views have been coupled with thousands of comments with fans in awe at what they've witnessed.

While a second person said this about the flick: "This actually might be the best assist of all time".

Another commented: "People don’t realize how hard that is, I can’t even describe how good it is" while a fellow TikTok user said: "Is there a Puskas Award equivalent for assists? If so, this deserves a nomination".
