Football club’s seething staff storm VAR room after controversial red card
The director of football for Brazilian side Corinthians was caught on camera trying to storm the VAR room following a controversial red card.
Alessandro Nunes, who's transitioned into a senior boardroom role for the club he finished his playing career at, was left fuming during their game away at Gremio on Sunday (November 12).
He was watching from the stands as defender Bruno Mendez was sent off inside the first 10 minutes of the match for a studs-up challenge after the referee had also turned down an early penalty appeal.

Mendez was initially shown yellow by referee Rodrigo Pereira de Lima, but VAR sent him to the pitchside monitor for to reassess the decision which was then upgraded to a red.
Come half-time, Nunes and some of his Corinthians colleagues were filmed running to the VAR room inside the Arena do Gremio, pushing past security and trying to force their way in as they banged on the closed doors.
After realising he was being filmed, Nunes had another person smack the phone of the person recording, who then got in an incensed argument with the staff.

The 44-year-old admitted post-match that his behaviour was "inappropriate", but continued to complain about the penalty decision – which if it had of been given, would've meant the red card wasn't brandished.
"This was my way of protesting against the absurdity of the VAR referee," he told Brazilian newspaper O Globo. "It does not help the field referee. There was a clear penalty, how long will we continue to see these mistakes?
“Years go by, presidents of the referees’ committee change, but we still see the same mistakes. I am not excusing my actions, I made a mistake and my behaviour was inappropriate.

Remarkably, 10-man Corinthians went on to beat title-chasing Gremio 1-0 on their travels. The hosts also had a man sent off with nine minutes of normal time to go to add to the drama.
