Footage emerges of Mario Balotelli staggering into ambulance after horror smash

Mario Balotelli needed assistance after totalling his Audi Q8 in a horror crash on Thursday evening.

It was reported the former Manchester City and Liverpool forward lost control of his car while driving in hometown Brescia. It was there that he allegedly slammed into a wall before walking away from the wreckage.

However, it wasn't a completely straightforward escape as footage shows the 33-year-old being helped into an ambulance at the scene. And medical personnel can be seen guiding him towards the vehicle as he does so, stumbling slightly and appearing shaken by the incident.

The one-time Premier League champion and Champions League-winner was in Brescia while he recovers from an existing injury. Balotelli re-joined Turkish club Adana Demirspor in September after he was released by Swiss outfit Sion.

The former wild child was only halfway through a two-year contract in southern Switzerland before the club agreed to terminate his deal. Sion chiefs have been quoted criticising Balotelli for 'ruining the atmosphere' at the club prior to their relegation at the end of last season.

The 36-cap Italy international was 'unharmed' following Thursday's accident, and there was fortunately no-one else involved in the crash. Local reports suggested that was fortunate, however, considering the extensive damage to the front of the player's car.

Images showed the front-right tyre of his Audi Q8 appeared completely destroyed, while his bonnet was partly crumpled. The crash was also significant enough that all airbags were deployed in the impact.

It's not the first time Balotelli has been involved in a car crash, having previously sent a Fiat 500 Abarth into the gates of a bakery at 5am on New Year's Day in 2020. A decade prior to that, he wrote off a £120,000 Audi R8 while on the books in Manchester.
