Rio Ferdinand claims that he has already texted Manchester United transfer target Raphael Varane amid talk of a move to Old Trafford.
Real Madrid centre-back Varane looks set to become United's third signing of the summer, following Jadon Sancho and Tom Heaton.
According to ESPN, Varane will complete his move in the next two weeks after he rejected the offer to renew his contract.
Talks with Real for the 28-year-old have been developing well – and Spanish outlet Sport have reported that the defender has given his own seal of approval.
Varane has 'given his word' to United that he is 'willing' to join the club in this window.
While it will depend on the teams agreeing a deal, the report says his exit is 'inevitable'.
During a Q&A on his Instagram over the weekend, United legend Ferdinand gave an inside scoop on how he is trying to help push the deal along.
When asked for his thoughts on the rumour, the former England international replied: "Would love to see him at United… big possibility."

In light of that response, another asked him to drop the Frenchman a text.
"Already have done, Agent Ferdy," he wrote back.
Ferdinand is said to have been Varane's idol growing up, while the defender was also a boyhood United fan.
And United will be hoping that those connections can help them to secure his signature.

Despite entering the final year of his contract, it's thought that Varane will cost at least €50m (£42m).
A four-time Champions League winner, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will no doubt be keen for him to build a strong partnership at the back with skipper Harry Maguire.
Varane was part of the France team that was knocked out of Euro 2020 by Switzerland, even giving away a penalty in their Round of 16 defeat.
