A 30-year career in football has endeared the commentator to sports lovers across the country as fans recently discovered that Drury once worked a darts match between Phil Taylor and Paul Nicholson. A clip of Nicholson's victory was posted on X with Drury's voice in the background as the caption of the post read: "The world of darts commentary is in dire need of a Peter Drury return" while one fan wrote: "Peter Drury can lend his voice to any sport". While a return to darts may not be on the cards, the Brit had an interview with The Athletic ahead of his debut on Sky Sports and explained what he had hoped to bring to the platform.
"Youâve got people who have been a part of the furniture and when the furniture moves, some people wonât like the change," Drury said following the departure of Martin Tyler. "Sky have presumably employed me because they, broadly speaking, like the way I do it. I donât want to make it feel as though Iâm imposing myself, but I do have to find a way of being myself.
