Former Everton right-back Tony Hibbert has come out of retirement to sign for amateur side ES Louzy, who compete in the tenth tier of French football.
The 40-year-old has signed for the minnows more than five-and-a-half years after he last last kicked a ball at Everton.
One-club man Hibbert made 328 appearances for Everton in a fifteen-year playing career which saw him hang his boots up in 2016 after the club opted against renewing his contract.
Hibbert famously never scored a goal during his entire professional career which saw him make his Everton debut in 2001.
But in a bizarre turn of events, Hibbert has got them out again after obtaining his veterans licence, which will enable him to play for District D2 club Louzy.
When asked about Hibbert’s signing, Louzy president Jerome Archambeau is quoted by La Nouvelle Repblique as saying: “He was looking for a small club to keep himself fit and was was already taking care of our Under 13s side.
“He was itching a bit to return and coming back to the basics of football after such a career is good for him.
“The idea is that he brings us his experience, and that he takes pleasure from what he’s doing.
“We’re a family club, and I think that’s what he liked, namely the spirit of camaraderie rather than that of competition.”

Located in western France between Nantes and Poitiers, the lesser lights of Louzy has a population of little more than 1,000.
Avid angler Hibbert purchased a 33-acre carp fishery in the French village of Villiers-en-Prayeres towards the back end of his playing career so that he could maximise his pastime.
Since then, Hibbert has devoted his time to running the venue, as well as welcoming keen fisherman from all over the globe.
The Sun say the site – known as Lac de Premier – contains an 80-seater restaurant, a sports bar, a shower block, and two lakes, which guests can enjoy for up to £550 a week provided you bring your own tent.
