Europe's 'surprising best team' win AGAIN to make it 19 straight wins

Europe’s ‘surprising best team’ win AGAIN to make it 19 victories in a row – with a former Man City star bagging a hat-trick in a 5-0 win away from home

  • Fenerbache have won all their 19 games in all competitions this season
  • The Istanbul giants are top of the Super Lig with a perfect 10 wins in 10 matches
  • Fenerbahce’s line-up boasts a collection of former Premier League players

Tottenham may have hit the ground running under Ange Postecoglou, while Manchester City looked back to their best as they swept Manchester United aside at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Jude Bellingham has propelled Real Madrid to the top of LaLiga, while Inter Milan have been near flawless in Serie A so far this season.

But Fenerbahce remain the form team in European football, after racking up a 19th consecutive win in all competitions this season.

The Istanbul giants made it 10 wins in 10 Super Lig games on Sunday, winning 5-0 away at Pendikspor to remain two points ahead of arch-rivals Galatasaray at the top of the table.

Fenerbahce have looked just as unstoppable in Europe, firming their grip on their Europa Conference League group with a 3-1 victory over Bulgarian side Ludogorets Razgrad on Thursday night.

Edin Dzeko scored a hat-trick as Fenerbahce beat Pendikspor 5-0 away on Sunday

Fenerbahce have won all their 19 games in all competitions so far this season

Fred swapped Manchester United for Fenerbahce in the summer

That followed earlier group phase wins over Danes Nordsjaelland and Spartak Trnava of Slovakia but, even more impressively, Fenerbahce had already fought through three qualifying rounds to get that far.

They saw off Zimbru Chisinau of Moldova, Maribor of Slovenia and FC Twente of the Netherlands, winning all six legs along the way.

Former Manchester City star Edin Dzeko netted a hat-trick in the 5-0 demolition Pendikspor, bringing his tally for the season to 12 goals in 14 games in all competitions.

The Bosnian, who arrived from Inter Milan on a free transfer in the summer, isn’t the only Fenerbahce player with Premier League connections in coach Ismail Kartal’s squad.

Brazilian midfielder Fred signed from Manchester United at the start of the season and has so far featured in 14 of Fenerbahce’s 19 games, setting up five goals.

Fred is joined in midfield by Dusan Tadic, who spent four years at Southampton, and signed for Fenerbahce in July following five successful years at Ajax.

Meanwhile, former United academy graduate Josh King – who played for Blackburn, Bournemouth, Everton and Watford – has scored four goals this season.

Former Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi, who joined last year, partners Dzeko upfront and has scored four goals in their European campaign so far.

Ryan Kent signed for the Turkish giants from Rangers on a free transfer this summer

Elsewhere, former Rangers winger Ryan Kent and former QPR right-back Bright Osayi-Samuel have also been regulars under Kartal, who returned to the Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium for a third spell in the summer.

Like Dzeko and Tadic, Kent was a free agent with Fenerbahce reinvesting the money they received for Arda Guler and Altay Bayindir on signing Fred, Turkish winger Cengiz Under and Polish midfield Sebastian Szymanski.

Guler joined Real Madrid for £17million, while Bayindir moved to Manchester United for just over £4m.

Fenerbahce host fifth-placed Trabzonspor on Sunday, looking to continue their impressive run.

Flawless Fenerbahce!
