Erling Haaland reacts to being turned into Scream painting for viral meme

Manchester City forward Erling Haaland was able to crack a smile after being photoshopped onto the iconic Scream painting.

Haaland became the subject of many different memes after the Premier League holders drew 3-3 with Tottenham on Sunday. The end-to-end contest ended in controversial fashion after Haaland looked to have played Jack Grealish through on goal, only for referee Simon Hooper to bring play back for an earlier foul, despite initially playing the advantage.

Several photos of the 23-year-old wide eyed in anger did the rounds on social media, with some amusingly edited into different memes and pictures. However, the picture of the Norwegian edited onto Edvard Munch's iconic painting is the one that made him smile.

The former Borussia Dortmund forward re-tweeted the picture and said: "Wtf that made me smile for the first time today."

While Haaland is now able to see the funny side of the resulting memes, he was anything but amused when play was stopped. When Hooper's whistle peeped to signal the halting of the chance, Haaland was one of the first City players to run into the official's vicinity and protest against the decision.

However, the former Bayern Munich and Barcelona manager opted to remain tight-lipped and not vent in the same way as Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta. "Next question, I will not do a Mikel Arteta comment," Guardiola said, when asked specifically of the incident at the end of the game.

"It is hard when you review the image, the referee decides to blow the whistle after he has already said to play on. After the pass, the whistle, so I do not understand this action.

"But I would say we did not draw because of that."
