- A spate of injuries and absentees has disrupted Fantasy Football preparations
- A number of players of the online game are struggling to score points this week
- England star Stuart Broad revealed on Instagram that he has also fallen victim
- Five of the players named in Broad’s team have already failed to get any points
Countless Fantasy Football players have fallen victim to a difficult Christmas period – and England cricket star Stuart Broad has revealed he is no different.
A spate of injuries and coronavirus-related absences have all played havoc with choosing a strong team for the current round of fixtures.
And Broad has now taken to Instagram to share his dilemma, made worse by almost half his team scoring zero points, with his 592,000 followers.
Stuart Broad fell victim to a poor Fantasy Football week after a spate of injuries and absences
The England cricket star likened his online dilemma to being at ‘panic stations’ on Instagram
A post uploaded to his story on Tuesday revealed that five players were either not in action or endured a difficult game, leaving him with a meagre four points so far.
Manchester City’s clash with Everton was postponed just a number of hours before kick-off after the visitors were rocked with a Covid outbreak.
The bombshell news has severe ramifications for the already hectic scheduling this season – and has also taken its toll on Broad’s hopes of topping his fantasy league.
Kevin de Bruyne did not play for Manchester City after their clash with Everton was postponed
Ruben Dias, Kevin de Bruyne and Dominic Calvert-Lewin were all set to be involved in the fixture and, unfortunately for Broad, all featured in his team.
Kurt Zouma missed out as Chelsea were made to settle for a 1-1 draw with Aston Villa and therefore also scored no points.
And to top off a truly woeful day, James Maddison was absent from Leicester’s game at Crystal Palace due to a knee injury.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin was another player named in Broad’s team who did not score this week
Broad chose to sum up his situation with the apt caption ‘Panic stations’.
But luckily for the Test sensation, five of his selected players are yet to feature.
Alex McCarthy and Kyle Walker-Peters are likely to start for Southampton against West Ham on Tuesday night – although boss Ralph Hasenhuttl will not be present.
Bruno Fernandes and Mohamed Salah are yet to play, however, in a glimmer of hope for Broad
Bruno Fernandes and Mohamed Salah will look to extend their fine form when Manchester United and Liverpool play Wolves and Newcastle respectively.
Callum Wilson may lead the line once again for Newcastle against the reigning champions at St James’ Park on Wednesday.
The only player to have picked up any points for Broad is Ben Chilwell, who registered an assist despite Chelsea dropping more points.
