Christian Eriksen sent ‘touching text’ to Denmark stars after Czech Republic win

Denmark’s Christian Eriksen reportedly sent a heart-warming message to his teammates after they beat Czech Republic to progress to the semi-finals of Euro 2020.

The ex-Spurs playmaker shocked the footballing world last month when he collapsed during Denmark’s opening Euros match against Finland, suffering a cardiac arrest on the pitch before emergency services saved his life.

Eriksen, 29, has since watched on from hospital and home as his countrymen defied all the odds to progress deep into the tournament.

Now Italian publication Gazzetta dello Sport reports the midfield maestro sent a touching message to the squad through WhatsApp to show his support.

The Inter Milan player is believed to have told teammates ‘I am proud of you’ after their 2-1 win over Czech Republic on Saturday.

Thomas Delaney and Kasper Dolberg both scored in the first half to secure Denmark’s place in the final four as the side once again exceeded expectations.

Eriksen’s collapse undoubtedly rocked the Danes, who lost both their opening two games against Finland and Belgium.

However, the side rallied to overcome Russia 4-1 in their final Group B game before annihilating Gareth Bale’s Wales 4-0 in the last-16 to become the tournament’s feel-good story.
