Chelsea’s five-man ‘shortlist’ to replace Lampard includes Premier League duo

Premier League pair Ralph Hasenhuttl and Brendan Rodgers are both on a five-man shortlist of managers who could replace Frank Lampard if Chelsea opt for a change in the dugout.

Pressure is mounting on the Blues boss who has seen his side slip out of title contention.

Roman Abramovich invested heavily in the summer with the west London outfit spending more than £200m.

A run of one win in six games over the past month however has seen Chelsea lose pace and dented their top four ambitions.

Lampard's side sit in ninth – ten points off the summit – and the player turned manager will be all too aware of Abramovich's lack of patience.

As such five men have been identified as potential replacements, reports Bild.

Leicester's Rodgers has the Foxes sitting in third place this season having narrowly missed out on the top four last term.

He was once on the coaching staff at Stamford Bridge and is on their radar.

His attractive style of football will no doubt be plus while Hasenhuttl continues to overachieve with Southampton.

The Saints recently saw off Liverpool and sit three points ahead of the Blues.

Options are also being considered from abroad with the recently sacked PSG boss Thomas Tuchel heavily linked.

The German's immediate availability will no doubt be a plus and that is also the case with Massimiliano Allegri.

Manchester United and Arsenal have been linked with the former Juventus boss, but he has been without a job for 18 months.

Allegri though has a stellar CV with Serie A titles in Turin and Milan.

He would bring with him a more pragmatic approach but that may be what a young Chelsea side needs.

One man used to working with young players is Julian Nagelsmann who has performed wonders at RB Leipzig.

His stock, especially in Germany, is particularly high and the 33-year-old has been tipped for the top.

Lampard is Chelsea's 10th permanent manager in Abramovich's 18-year ownership of the club.
