Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has identified his top target ahead of the January transfer window, according to reports.

The Blues forked out a whopping £250million in the previous summer window, but primarily spent that on attackers.

Kai Havertz, Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech all arrived for hefty transfer fees, as Lampard looked to boost his options up top.

Defenders Ben Chilwell, Thiago Silva and Malang Sarr were all signed, though the latter was immediately loaned out to Porto.

Chelsea were said to be interested in Declan Rice, but opted against making a move for the West Ham ace.

Instead, they will apparently move for Strasbourg ace Mohamed Simakan – potentially in the January transfer window.

The 20-year-old has been looking impressive in Ligue 1, and was the subject of interest from AC Milan last summer.

The Serie A leaders had a bid of £12.5m rejected in the previous window, and are expected to launch another bid before long.

The Daily Mail claims Chelsea have confirmed their interest, and could launch a bid in January.

Simakan is set to leave Strasbourg in the upcoming transfer window, claims French outlet Le10 Sport.

The same report states Chelsea have already made contact with Strasbourg over a move, and are aware they’ll more than likely have to sell him.

Simakan could end up playing alongside Silva next season, with the Blues reportedly engaged in talks over an extension to his current contract.

The veteran signed a one-year deal when he left Paris Saint-Germain in the previous summer window, with the club holding an option for a further year.

Signing Simakan could provide the Blues with a long-term replacement, who could learn from the Brazilian while he’s still at Stamford Bridge.
