Chelsea can solve Pochettino’s biggest problem by taking advantage of close link

Chelsea can solve Mauricio Pochettino’s biggest problem by signing Ivan Toney from Brentford when the January transfer window opens. The Blues reportedly have close ties with the striker’s agency, CAA Stellar, and could exploit that relationship to solve their goalscoring issues.
Pochettino’s side have struggled drastically in front of goal so far this season, scoring just seven goals in as many Premier League matches despite facing several sides tipped to be in the relegation battle – such as Luton Town and Nottingham Forest.
Nicolas Jackson was signed from Villarreal over the summer to lead the line at Stamford Bridge, however, the Senegal international has struggled to hit the ground running in England. The 22-year-old has been a nuisance for opponents with his physicality and speed, but ultimately lacked the clinical nature to play as a lone striker.
Chelsea are expected to attempt to resolve the issue in the January transfer window, with Napoli star Victor Osimhen among their considerations after his recent problems with the club. However, Toney remains their top target and the Blues could lean on their relationship with his agents to strike a deal for his services.

According to TeamTalk, Chelsea ‘boasts a strong relationship’ with CAA Stellar, having worked with them to reach an agreement with Infinite Athlete for them to become their shirt sponsor recently. Robert Sanchez and Ben Chilwell are among the stars that are also represented by the agency, as well as helping to facilitate plenty of transfers involving Saudi Pro League clubs – which Chelsea were significantly involved in.
Toney signed with the agency earlier this year with the intention of leaving Brentford soon, despite currently being banned from playing for the club for a further few months. The Bees are aware of the interest in the striker and have already made it clear that they will not let him leave for a cut-price fee, with a price tag upwards of £50million already being sounded out.

Arsenal are also interested in Toney and are expected to be dipping into the January market in search of a marquee No. 9 that can be the final piece of the puzzle for Mikel Arteta. The Gunners have relied on Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah to complete their frontline, but the lack of a focal point in attack is viewed as an issue.
The north London outfit will be hoping that being involved in a title race will prove decisive to Toney, who has made it no secret that he has aspirations of playing Champions League football with his next club.
