Girona continued their incredible start to the season as they were victorious over rivals Barcelona in the Catalan derby. 

Goals from Artem Dovbyk, Miguel Gutierrez, Valery Fernandez and Cristhain Stuani were enough to see Girona return to the top of the table, despite Barca briefly levelling through Robert Lewandowski and scoring a late Ikay Gundogun consolation. 

Xavi’s side were hoping to close the gap on both Girona and Real Madrid at the top of La Liga, but now found themselves trailing both teams and are seven points off top spot.
