Premier League table-toppers Arsenal have rejected an approach from Monaco to sign Albert Sambi Lokonga on loan.
Mikel Arteta is reluctant to let players out, particularly in midfield, wary that he needs cover in all positions as his side chase the Premier League title.
Arsenal remain in the market to add another midfielder and a right back this window with Cedric Soares closing on a move to Fulham.
Arsenal have rejected an approach from Monaco to sign Albert Sambi Lokonga on loan
Lokonga joined the Emirates from Anderlecht last season in a deal worth around £17million and was tipped for big things by his former boss Vincent Kompany.
However, Lokonga – who was compared to former Manchester City star Yaya Toure – struggled to make his mark under Arteta.

He made 12 starts last season – most of them in the first part of the campaign – with another seven coming off the bench.
Lokonga said he came close to leaving the club before deciding to give himself another year to impress the Gunners boss.
However, things haven’t gone according to plan as Lokonga has only made six Premier League appearances so far this season.
