- Arsenal are preparing to make a move for Real Madrid midfielder Isco in January
- The Gunners want to sign the Spanish playmaker on a six-month loan deal
- However, Mikel Arteta will need to move players on before bringing in Isco
- The north London side also face competition from Sevilla for the playmaker
Arsenal are targeting a loan move for Real Madrid midfielder Isco once the January transfer window opens later this week, according to reports.
The Gunners have reportedly made the Spaniard their No 1 transfer target and will offer the 28-year-old a route out of his Bernabeu nightmare, where he has fallen out of favour under Zinedine Zidane.
According to PA, the north London club want to bring in Isco on a six-month loan deal once the window opens in the new year but face a number of hurdles to make the move happen.

To bring Isco to the Emirates, Arsenal will need Real to pay a portion of the Spaniard’s wages which could prove to be a stumbling block for the Madrid club.
Arsenal would also need to shift at least one player to bring Isco in, with Mesut Ozil the man the Gunners are desperate to move on, considering his mammoth £350,000-a-week wages continue to eat into the club’s cash reserves.
Ozil has been frozen out by Arteta and is highly unlikely to ever play for the club again, with his contract with the club up at the end of the season.
Arteta has been desperate for more creativity in midfield and upfront and reports claim that Isco is the perfect candidate to help with that specific issue.

The 28-year-old star, valued at around £18million, has made just 11 appearances this campaign
Isco has made 11 appearances for Real this season and is often heavily rotated by Zidane.
The former Malaga man has 18 months left on his current deal at the Bernabeu and could be sold in the summer for just £18million.
While Arsenal would be keen to get a deal done, they face stiff competition from Sevilla, according to AS.
The Spanish news outlet claim Isco would prefer to stat in Spain over a move to England and would like to reunite with former Spain and Madrid boss Julen Lopetegui.
Isco enjoyed a fine patch of form during Lopetegui’s brief time at the helm of the current LaLiga champions in 2018 and is understood to have felt most supported under him.

However, his time in the Spanish capital has since soured, with the playmaker now firmly out of favour. Zidane is said to have lost all confidence in Isco, but will refuse to allow the outcast to leave next month due to his fears over a potential injury crisis.
Madrid will accept a reasonable price for their former prized asset and will also be able to cut back on his £6.3m annual wage.
Isco believes he will still be able to enjoy at least three more seasons performing at the highest level. The same report also states Lopetegui is relishing the chance to work alongside Isco once again and that the player’s family would be delighted with the switch.
