Arsenal remain interested in Sheffield United goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale but have been told to raise their offer to over £32million. The Gunners have reportedly already had two bids rejected for the 23-year-old.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is looking for competition for current number one Bernd Leno, who struggled at times last season, as the north London side finished eighth.

The German kept 11 clean sheets in 35 Premier League games last campaign.

With Mat Ryan leaving the club to join Real Sociedad, they are looking to sign someone that can compete with Leno for the No 1 spot.

And, whilst Ramsdale is their main target, The Times is reporting that the Gunners will have to pay over £32m for the England international.

Ramsdale was a late call-up to Gareth Southgate’s England squad for Euro 2020, due to an injury suffered by Manchester United’s Dean Henderson.

After relegation from the Championship last season, Sheffield United reportedly see Ramsdale as one of their few players who can command a significant transfer fee in this transfer window.

He only joined the club last summer, signing a four-year deal when he joined them for £18.5m from relegated Bournemouth.

That means he has suffered back-to-back relegations, conceding 125 goals and keeping just ten clean sheets, over that period.

Express Sport’s Ryan Taylor confirmed that Ramsdale’s former club, Bournemouth, will receive a cut of any fee that Sheffield United gets for the ‘keeper.

“Express Sport can confirm that [Bournemouth] successfully negotiated a sell-on clause in the deal, meaning they will receive a small cut (15 percent) of any figure Arsenal are willing to pay,” he said in his ‘Taylor’s Tuesday Transfers’ column.

Arsenal were reportedly lining up West Brom goalkeeper Sam Johnstone as an alternative to Ramsdale.

Johnstone, who was also relegated last season with West Brom, was one of the Baggies’ key performers last season.

But now it looks as though the north London side have now fully turned their attention to Ramsdale.

Arteta has been keen to get his business done early this summer.

Benfica left-back Nuno Tavares and Anderlecht midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga have both already joined the club.

Arsenal have also agreed an eye-popping £50m deal to sign Brighton centre-back Ben White, who is set to undergo a medical.

They have also been linked with moves for Jordan Henderson and Manuel Locatelli, with the Gunners keen to strengthen their squad in an attempt to break back into the top four.
