Arsenal have so many problems to solve in the off-season that they may have to prioritise some over others. The Gunners are looking to sign as many as five new players in the transfer window, with plenty of others being shown the exit as well.
Mikel Arteta and Edu are trying to overhaul Arsenal’s squad following a dreadful 2020/21 season which saw them finish eighth and miss out on European football.
That factor cannot be underestimated when it comes to trying to attract new players, but the club simply has to be aggressive in the market.
Arsenal have already made headlines through their pursuit of England defender Ben White – with a £40million bid rejected by Brighton – and they should take a similar approach at the other end of the pitch.
Their most obvious needs are in the full-back positions and central midfield, yet that should not prevent Arsenal looking for a striker as well.
While Arteta’s defence conceded 39 goals in the Premier League last season – a total bettered only by Manchester City and Chelsea – the attack managed just 55 goals, a tally lower than every side in the top seven and Leeds.

Alexandre Lacazette topped the charts with 13 league goals, while Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Nicolas Pepe managed 10 each.
Lacazette has just 12 months remaining on his contract and there is some speculation he could move on this summer, if Arsenal can find a club willing to pay his £200,000 per week wages.
With Eddie Nketiah also entering the final year of his contract – and with youngsters Gabriel Martinelli and Folarin Balogun still not the finished article – Arsenal could undoubtedly do with a proven goalscorer.
Thankfully, one might just be available this summer. Andre Silva banged in 28 goals in 32 Bundesliga matches for Eintracht Frankfurt last season and, at 25 years old, has plenty more left in the tank.

The Portuguese striker only joined Frankfurt permanently in September, having previously been on loan from AC Milan, but already looks fantastic value for the £2.7m fee the German side reportedly paid.
He still has two years on his contract, and while Frankfurt obviously want to keep hold of him, they reportedly value him at around £34m. If true, that is a bargain.
According to The Transfer Window Podcast, Arsenal are one of the sides interested in Silva, who is currently on Portugal duty at the European Championship.
Silva is a proven goal scorer who is available for a transfer fee which, in the age of rampant inflation, represents genuine value.
Arsenal may find it difficult to lure him, given their lack of European football, but they should be doing everything in their power to sign him, even if Lacazette stays put.
Time is of the essence for the Gunners, who know that a few goals at the Euros could send his asking price skyrocketing.
Being behind Cristiano Ronaldo in the pecking order means he has made just two late substitute appearances so far, but he is likely to be used more by Fernando Santos as the tournament progresses.
Edu is currently trying to negotiate transfers for White with Brighton and Albert Sambi Lokonga with Anderlecht, but the Gunners transfer guru should not wait to get in touch with Frankfurt and Silva’s representatives.
