Arsenal romp to win at West Brom as snow storm fails to stop Gunners’ revival

Arsenal ensured they were in dreamland as well as a winter wonderland as they beat West Brom 4-0 at a snowy Hawthorns.

When managers Sam Allardyce and Mikel Arteta were seen talking to match officials an hour before the scheduled kick-off, fans were concerned that the game may be called off.

But the groundsmen and undersoil heating worked their magic as the Gunners romped to their third Premier League victory in a row.

Alexandre Lacazette scored two second-half goals after strikes from Kieran Tierney and Bukayo Saka in the first 45.

The pressure has been eased immensely on Arteta following the run of wins with Arsenal having struggled in the first dozen matches this season.

Many believed they were in a relegation battle but the win in the Midlands moves them up to 11th, and just three points off Chelsea in sixth.

Snow during the break ensured there was a very wintry feel to proceedings as the Baggies struggled.

Allardyce got his reign as West Brom boss off to a dream start with a 1-1 draw at Premier League champions Liverpool.

But they have conceded nine goals across their last two matches now having also been beaten 5-0 by Leeds.

Arsenal will be hoping for better weather as they welcome Newcastle to the Emirates next weekend in the FA Cup.

Though Arteta may be cursing the Premier League break given their current form, which started with a win over London rivals Chelsea.

They then beat Brighton at the Amex before Saturday night’s comfortable performance.

Saka’s goal against West Brom was like the Arsenal of old, with Martin Keown impressed by the team build-up.

The Gunners legend, speaking on BT Sport at half-time, said: “This is about the future. [Emile] Smith Rowe, the way he is intelligent on the ball, and the link up with Saka.

“They obviously played in the youth team. It's made to look so simple by Arsenal."
