Arsenal outcast Ozil ‘in negotiations’ over transfer to MLS side DC United

Arsenal's Mesut Ozil is reportedly in negotiations over a move to the MLS with DC United.

The German has been frozen out at the Emirates and may seek pastures new with his contract due to expire in the summer.

He has previously underlined his intention to see out his current deal, but the American outfit have tabled an attractive offer in an effort to turn his head.

DC United are willing to expand Ozil's M10 brand across the country.

They have also offered to further his '39 Steps Coffee' brand in their Audi Field stadium as well as making him the face of the club, reports

Ozil was left out of Arsenal's squads by Mikel Arteta meaning he hasn't featured all season.

He began being frozen out once football returned from lockdown back in June.

The German has remained a vocal follower on social media and has been linked with a return to the first team.

Arsenal have won three on the bounce but prior to that had endured a horror winless run that saw them plummet down the table.

Scoring goals was an issue with Ozil touted as a possible solution.

The 32-year-old, who has made 254 appearances for the Gunners, has long been lauded for his creative flair.

He moved to north London in 2013 from Real Madrid for a then club record fee.

But following the departure of Arsene Wenger Ozil found it increasingly difficult to retain his starting berth.

First Unai Emery and now Arteta have struggled to accommodate the German who has copped criticism for failing to work off the ball.

Should he secure a move to the MLS he will follow former Premier League star like Wayne Rooney who opted to enjoy a spell across the Atlantic in the latter part of his career.
