Arsenal injury round-up and expected return dates as Mikel Arteta without thr…
Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool future assessed | Football Digest
Arsenal will make their eagerly-awaited return to the Champions League after the international break but Mikel Arteta could be without several key players for Tuesday’s match against PSV. The Gunners are about to enter a tricky period of fixtures, with Sunday’s game against Everton coming before they face PSV and Tottenham, and will need as many players as possible to be fit in order to stand the best chance of winning.
Express Sport takes a look at the latest Arsenal injury news and expected return dates before club football returns on the weekend…
Gabriel Magalhaes
Arsenal were given a scare when Gabriel was forced off with a knock while playing for Brazil against Bolivia on Friday. The 25-year-old was spotted in full training with his international team-mates on Sunday, though, which suggests that his injury is not a serious one.
Gabriel is likely to be available for Arsenal when they face Everton at Goodison Park this weekend, while he will also be in line to feature against PSV and Tottenham if he can stay fit.
Potential return date: Sunday, September 17

Thomas Partey
The Gunners will definitely be without Thomas Partey for the foreseeable future, with the Ghanaian midfielder still sidelined with a groin injury. He was ruled out of Arsenal’s win over Manchester United before the international break and is expected to remain on the treatment table for a number of weeks.
Speaking earlier this month, Arteta said: “Unfortunately he got an injury in training and it doesn’t look good. We need some more tests, we believe he’s going to be out for weeks. We think it’s a groin but can be something in between.”
Potential return date: October
Mohamed Elneny
Mohamed Elneny remains a valuable part of Arsenal’s first-team squad despite seeing his role diminish over the last couple of seasons. However, the club’s longest-serving squad member remains unavailable for selection after undergoing surgery on a knee injury back in January.
The Egyptian midfielder is back in training at London Colney but needs to build up his match fitness before he can play for Arsenal again.
Potential return date: October

Jurrien Timber
Jurrien Timber was brought in over the summer to provide some extra quality in defence but will need to wait until next season to make an impact for the Gunners. He suffered a long-term knee injury on the opening day of the campaign and is not expected to be fit again until the summer months.
The Dutchman impressed during pre-season for Arsenal and will be hoping to pick up where he left off when he eventually returns to peak condition.
Potential return date: Next season
