Ange Postecoglou hailed the industry of fit-again Richarlison and the leadership of Son Heung-min as Tottenham ended a five-game winless run in style.
Richarlison scored twice in a 4-1 win against Newcastle, on his first start since groin surgery and Postecoglou said: ‘Since he’s come back, it’s fair to say he feels a lot better physically and that’s helped him mentally as well.
‘Great for him to get two goals today, but it wasn’t just his goals, it was his general work rate, energy and physicality.’
On Son, who created the first two and scored the fourth from the penalty spot, the Spurs boss said: ‘Sonny really set the tone for us early on. Whenever he got the ball he was really positive with it.
‘That’s what you need from leadership and I think the rest of the lads fed off that. We were a lot more threatening in that front third than we have been.’
Destiny Udogie scored Tottenham’s first and Joelinton scored a late consolation for Newcastle.
