Ange Postecoglou eyes reunion as Tottenham chiefs scramble after three losses
Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou is reportedly keen on a reunion with Jota in January. Postecoglou had the winger at Celtic and could sign him on loan following a run of three straight defeats for his Spurs side.
Tottenham made seven signings in the summer transfer window, while also taking up options to sign Pedro Porro and Dejan Kulusevski on permanent deals. The arrivals of James Maddison, Micky van de Ven and Guglielmo Vicario in particular have proven to be a success.
Spurs won nine of their opening 10 matches of the Premier League season, their best start to a campaign since they last won the league in 1960/61. However, a string of injuries and suspensions has seen both performances and results drop in recent weeks.
Postecoglou is set to explore the January market in order to bolster his squad options. And, in Jota, he could be signing a player he knows very well.

The Times claims Spurs have stepped up their interest in the winger. Jota only joined Saudi Pro League club Al-Ittihad in the summer but has been made available for loan.
The 24-year-old left Celtic for a fee worth £25million but has made just five substitute appearances in the Saudi top flight. Rules state clubs can only have eight foreign players in their squad and Jota has suffered from later arrivals of Fabinho and Luis Felipe.
Spurs are set to prioritise the signing of a centre-back in January, with the recent absences of Van de Ven and Cristian Romero showing the alarming lack of depth in that position. However, The Times says a left-winger will also be targeted.

Ivan Perisic will miss the rest of the season after injuring his anterior cruciate knee ligament, while Manor Solomon hasn’t played since September due to a knee injury of his own. Jota appears to be the No 1 option for Postecoglou.
Postecoglou signed Jota in his first summer in charge of Celtic in 2021. Initially joining on loan, he became a firm fan favourite at Celtic Park.
Jota made his move permanent a year later and went on to make 83 appearances in total for the Scottish giants. He scored 28 times and registered 26 assists, winning five major honours before his exit.
Tottenham will hope to see their form pick up before the start of the January window. It doesn’t get any easier this weekend though, with a trip to Manchester City on the horizon.
