Massimiliano Allegri has added fuel to the fire over his next job as Tottenham were dealt a further blow in their managerial chase.
Spurs are on the hunt for a new head coach after sacking Jose Mourinho last week.
The Special One was handed his P45 on April 19 with Ryan Mason taking over until the end of the season, just days before they were set to take on Manchester City in the Carabao Cup.
The former Spurs midfielder, who is just 29, was in the dugout as Pep Guardiola's men dominated at Wembley – winning their fourth League Cup in a row.
Tottenham chief Daniel Levy is desperate for an attack-minded manager and made contact with Ajax coach Erik Ten Hag over the position.
But the former Bayern Munich assistant appears to have snubbed interest after the Dutch club tied him down to a new contract.
Another potential option in Allegri also looks set to be out of the running after fueling speculation he is set to return to Juventus.
The Italian mastermind has been strongly linked with a move to the Premier League after leaving the Serie A giants in 2019 and has been taking English lessons.
But with Andrea Pirlo under serious pressure, Allegri was spotted in Turin while his son plays for a local football club in the area.
Juve could be set for some massive changes in the summer with club chiefs Fabio Paratici and Pavel Nedved leaving, according to Gazzetta dello Sport via Football Italia, and Andrea Agnelli’s position is also under the microscope if Allegri does return.
Pirlo appears to be close to the sack, regardless of whether Juventus finish in the top four or not.
Paratici and Nedved were the two advocating the dismissal of Allegri and his return would arrive at a time when the duo’s contracts expire.
As for Tottenham, that would represent a further blow – who have already been turned down by Brendan Rodgers and Julian Nagelsmann.
Bayern Munich have landed the RB Leipzig coach, who will replace Hans-Dieter Flick, while Rodgers has no intention of leaving Leicester.
Regardless, Levy will push for the former Liverpool boss again with options running out.
