Ajax have fired Director of Football Sven Mislintat with immediate effect after the anarchical scenes at the club’s game against Feyenoord on Sunday.
On Saturday, he shocked Ajax players by storming into the dressing room to talk about the possible dismissal of head coach Maurice Steijin.
But following Sunday’s chaotic scenes, the club confirmed on social media that it is Mislintat who has been shown the door.
The club posted on X (fka Twitter): ‘Ajax has ended the collaboration with Director of Football Sven Mislintat with immediate effect. The lack of broad support within the organisation is the reason behind this decision.’
Dutch side have struggled of late and are winless in four matches – which was looking to be five games before the Sunday fixture was curtailed.

Ajax’s league game against Feyenoord was abandoned after fans threw flares on the pitch
Head coach Steijin was not said to be present during the time of Mislintat’s warning on Saturday, with ‘several people confirming’ the story to Dutch news outlet De Telegraaf.
On Wednesday, Pier Eringa, the supervisor board chairman, told staff that Mislintat would ‘operate from the shadows and no longer be present at matches’. The following day, ten-man Ajax draw 3-3 with Marseille in the Europa League.
The director was under external investigation for ‘conflicts of interest in transfers’. De Telegraaf stated that the majority of those at Ajax ‘wanted Mislintat to be suspended pending the investigation’.
On Sunday, ugly scenes at the Johan Cruyff Arena saw fans throwing flares onto the pitch during the game, while riot police were filmed charging at supporters on horseback outside of the stadium.
Parts of the Johan Cruyff Arena were said to be ‘destroyed’ during the chaos on Sunday night.
‘De Klassieker has been permanently suspended after repeated fireworks on the field,’ the Eredivisie said in a statement.
