Geelong captain Joel Selwood will run through the banner with Levi Ablett, the son of club legend Gary Ablett jnr, before taking on Sydney in Saturday’s grand final.
Ablett retired after playing in the 2020 grand final at the Gabba in Brisbane and although his family was at the game he was unable to carry him out on to the field with his teammates.

Selwood said it was an opportunity for the club to show their respect for Ablett and his contribution to the club.
“Our fans probably haven’t got to thank him and the family enough, so it’s just a little kind gesture we could send their way,” Selwood said.
Levi, 3, has a rare degenerative disease, with Ablett returning from the football COVID hub to be with his family in 2020.
