Max Verstappen has ‘clear wish’ at Red Bull as pressure ramps up on Sergio Perez
Max Verstappen sent offer to quit Red Bull and join F1 rival keen to be his team-mate
Formula One expert Peter Windsor claims Max Verstappen isn’t ready to have a new Red Bull team-mate. Sergio Perez’s contract is up at the end of next season leading to rife speculation about who will lineup next to the Dutchman in 2025.
Lando Norris has been linked heavily with becoming Perez’s successor but Windsor believes Verstappen won’t want the “distraction” of a new team-mate. “I can tell you the drivers that Max wouldn’t want in the other Red Bull,” Windsor said during a livestream on his YouTube channel.
“Not because he’s afraid they’re going to beat him, but because they’re going to be a little bit of an irritation and distraction and not allow him just to relax and do the job that he can do in a perfect way if the car is a championship-winning car.”
Norris is currently under contract with McLaren until the end of 2025 meaning Red Bull would have to buy him out of his deal. However, McLaren are doing everything they can to ensure they keep hold of their man.

In a major twist, team principal Andrea Stella recently confirmed that he is in talks with Norris about extending his stay with McLaren. They are good conversations. We are happy with how these conversations are going,” he told Sky Sports.
“In terms of getting the vote of confidence, we went back to the facts. Certainly, we expressed our love, if you want – love in terms of this human element, and also as a team you kind of want mates to be with you in the journey, especially when the journey is so tough. But you also need to talk about facts.

“What’s the foundation for the future, why you can give us your vote of confidence? With Lando we are doing exactly the same, trying to prove as much as possible on track that what we say is realised, and trying to create a sense that this is going to continue over the coming years.
“I will be at discomfort myself having a conversation with a driver where I’m trying to persuade him, playing cards that I don’t have in my hands. I don’t want to find myself in a situation where a driver said, ‘Hey, you said this would have happened, it’s not happening’. I don’t want to be in this position.”
Red Bull chief Christian Horner has also recently played down the chances of Norris moving to Red Bull.
