Quarterback John Wolford got the start over Jared Goff for the Los Angeles Rams against the Seattle Seahawks in Saturday’s NFC wild-card playoff game.

This is Wolford’s first NFL playoff appearance and his second career start after he led the Rams to a 18-7 victory in Week 17 to clinch a playoff berth.

Goff underwent thumb surgery on his throwing hand on Dec. 28 and was inactive Week 17. He was listed as a limited participant in practice this week, but told reporters Thursday that his thumb felt good.

“I’m in the mindset that if I have to play at any point, then I’m ready to play,” said Goff, who added that he was “continuing to progress well.”

McVay on Thursday said Goff was “able to do everything that we asked. … I don’t even know what the hell limited means.”

Wolford passed for 231 yards with an interception and also rushed for 56 yards on six carries against the Cardinals.

Goff is the only active backup available with Blake Bortles on the inactive list.

The Rams and Seahawks split the season series.
