The situation at the tight end is starting to improve, but with a slew of bye weeks now here, the position seems to be as thin as ever. With six teams off in Week 9, top options like Zach Ertz, Eric Ebron, and Evan Engram are out of the Week 9 fantasy TE rankings, while other top streaming options will miss time, as well. There are still several solid plays at the position, but it could be a bit difficult for fantasy football owners to find quality options on the waiver wire.
This week, the best streamers are…uninspiring, at best. Outside of our top 10 (who are likely all on rosters at this point int he season) the top guys available as streamers are Vance McDonald (Steelers @ Ravens), Cameron Brate (Bucs @ Panthers), and Jeff Heuerman (Broncos vs. Texans). Yeah, any time you have Heuerman listed as a top-12 play, you know it’s a rough week at the TE position.
Week 9 Rankings:
Quarterback | Running Back | Wide Receiver | D/ST | Kicker
It’s possible that there could be a top guy at the position available in your league. If so, snap him up. But if not, you’ll have to rely on an unreliable weapon this week. Frankly, it may behoove owners to target a high-upside play like Chris Herndon (Jets) instead of some of the other waiver wire fodder that’s out there. This should (hopefully) be one of the last very difficult weeks for the TE position, but nothing is guaranteed in fantasy football.
Note: We’ll be updating our TE rankings and adding analysis throughout the week, so check back often!
