Buccaneers bench Jameis Winston after throwing 4 interceptions against Bengals

Jameis Winston’s start against the Bengals ended early.

Buccaneers quarterback Winston didn’t have a strong performance through three quarters, which resulted in coach Dirk Koetter making the call to replace him with backup quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick. The Bucs were down 34-16 at the time of Winston’s benching.

Winston threw four interceptions and was sacked five times for a loss of 20 yards. He finished with 276 yards and one touchdown, completing 18 of 35 passes for 276 yards. 

The Buccaneers, 3-3 entering Week 8, saw success under Fitzpatrick early in the season as he started four games while Winston served a three-game suspension at the beginning of the season.
