Baker Mayfield just wants to believe.
The Browns quarterback had a brief run in with a UFO in Texas in March, and he detailed the experience on social media. Others in the area confirmed what Mayfield saw, meaning he wasn’t on his own.
Speaking with media on Monday, Mayfield reaffirmed his belief in the supernatural and unexplainable, and this time he has a good source to back up his sightings.
“I’m a firm believer in UFOs and Sasquatch. It’s real. I saw it,” Mayfield said (via USA Today). “I’m glad the Navy finally confirmed some more pictures. Now everybody doesn’t think I’m as crazy. I believe.”
Mayfield is referring to the U.S. Navy’s recent affirming the authenticity of photos and videos which have surfaced from naval pilots in recent years and seem to indicate the existence of UFOs (unidentified flying objects).
Sasquatch (colloquially known as “Bigfoot”) is an urban legend of a bear-like-man-thing that roams the wild of the United States.
The Navy has yet to confirm the veracity of Sasquatch (although that duty may go to the National Park Service).
Mayfield caught the ire of sports media host Colin Cowherd after Mayfield’s tale of the UFO sighting. Cowherd was (supposedly) playing into his gimmick of hating any and all things Mayfield.
In any case, Mayfield believes what he believes, and that’s fine.
