Golf star Paige Spiranac slams ‘annoying’ Bryson DeChambeau over Tiger Woods

Golf star Paige Spiranac has taken another swipe at “annoying” Bryson DeChambeau following his win at the Arnold Palmer Invitational over the weekend.

DeChambeau, 27, held off England’s Lee Westwood by one shot to claim his eighth PGA Tour win at Bay Hill, Florida.

Following his victory, the American thanked his sponsors and opened up on a text message exchange with golf legend Tiger Woods, who is currently recovering in hospital from a serious car accident at the end of last month.

“I got a text from Tiger this morning,” he said, “and he obviously had done really well here and was very instrumental in Mr. Palmer’s life as Mr. Palmer was to Tiger.

“We just talked about just keep fighting no matter what happens, play boldly, like Mr. Palmer said.

“My heart has been heavy with Tiger and what’s been going on with him, just kept telling myself, it’s not how many times you get kicked down, it’s about how many times you get picked back up and keep going.”

Spiranac has openly criticised DeChambeau in the past, and after his latest win she took to Twitter to write: “I can respect Bryson and still find him annoying.

“He just comes off disingenuous at times.”

One fan agreed with Spiranac and commented: “The thanking of the sponsors was a bit much.”

The social-media sensation said on her Playing A Round podcast: “I have mixed feelings on Bryson ’cause he’s such a great person to make fun of.

“[But] I feel bad for him because he is doing things that are so different, and it gives us something to talk about.”
